SID: Outrageous, I tell you it’s totally outrageous, now I did this when I interviewed you on the radio, but it’s easier to do it by telephone than in person, because my wife says never do it, Marilyn, how old are you?
MARILYN: I’m seventy-four.
SID: How in the world do you travel around the world, you told me just before we did this show you just got back from another foreign country, you don’t just go to one country, and by the way, it takes a lot of endurance to do a healing campaign, where miracles, I mean, Marilyn, if you are like me, I pour everything I have out, but she doesn’t come home to rest, she comes home to work, to do TV, to run to another country, to run to another, how in the world do you do this?
MARILYN: Well, I have more energy in my seventies than in my thirties, I’m just being very honest with you, my family would tell you the same thing.
SID: Where does this fasted life enter into the picture?
MARILYN: See I believe when you get involved in prayer and fasting, that combination, I think the combination is very powerful, I think there is a power that comes in, I think your physical body is quickened. And even my mind, now I memorize usually one book of the Bible a year, my mind is clear. And I’ve noticed, and one time I got really, really sick, and I didn’t fast in that time because I was so sick, it was like seven months, and I had parasites I had picked up in some country, and I could tell, I could tell on every level of my life that I was not where I needed to be, and so you know I was eager to get back into that prayer and fasting that is so key, it energizes you.
SID: Briefly tell me the areas God promises to take care of when you pray and fast.
MARILYN: Well, I have this in the book, and so, it’s in Isaiah 58, and I tell you it says that your health will improve, it says that it will break bondages and burdens, that it will set captives free, your light will spring forth and shine brightly, you will help the poor, God will give you opportunity, and there are twenty-five fasts in the Bible, and some of them are just one night, one meal, you know we think oh, well what is one meal going to do, and so when you see these twenty-five fasts. Well Esther, Queen Esther, she fasted three days, and Mordecai fasted with her, she got her maidens, she saved a whole nation, a three day fast.
SID: Most people think in terms of 40 days, but if you start in the Bible that is the exception, not the rule. This whole concept, I mean there is a supernatural presence on your teaching on prayer and fasting because you are not teaching theory, tell me what happened in these foreign countries, how they opened up to, and you know what I mean by this even in America some stores are closed to women, but in a foreign Muslim country, they don’t take women, how did this happen?
MARILYN: Well I began, in my prayer time, God began to put on my heart, Pakistan, He began to put certain nations, and so I met a man who said one time, you know I used to travel and help people set up big healing campaigns overseas, is there any country you are interested in? I said Pakistan. Well he said, I have a friend in town who is from Pakistan. So I met this friend, he was a pastor, and I said you know I have this in my heart to have a healing campaign there, and I said I know this is a Muslim country. He said I will help you if you promise to come, he said most Americans back out, they get afraid, I said I promise you, I put my hand on my heart, I will come. So I went, and you know everyone said to me, we had a Pakistani man in our church, he said if you have 200 people you have a crowd, when you stand up they will walk out. Well the first night I had 4000 people, and God healed a Muslim woman of a back ailment, she had not walked in 12 years, and the next night we had 8000, by the last night we had 20,000 and then, you know I have been there now five times, in 2003 we had 120,000 people inside the stadium, 20,000 outside the stadium, and
SID: What if you had become that schoolteacher and married a nice guy, you would have missed all of this Marilyn.
MARILYN: I know, I know, and it’s the healings and miracles that bring the Muslims.
That’s what brings them. And you know, I’m a woman, I stand up, this is what I say
Sid, I say, “You know, I just love Muslims,” and so here this whole stadium they clap, and then I say very boldly, “And Muslims just love me.” and I clap. And I have used that in every Muslim country
SID: Now we have some video footage of you speaking, tell me about this.
MARILYN: Yes, well now this is in 2003, this just two weeks before the war with Iraq, so America was not number one popular over there, and, but my meeting has been planned for six months, cause it takes a lot of time for it, so everybody said you shouldn’t go, you should cancel it, but in my heart I felt I should go, so I went. And it didn’t effect it in any way, I had the best crowds we had ever had and healings, when you watch this video, healings especially children, children born with crooked feet, now these are Muslim children, and their foot straightens out, praying in the name of Messiah, Yeshua.
SID: Would the door have opened, would the miracles be taking place, would the crowds be there, if you hadn’t lived your life of prayer and fasting?
MARILYN: I don’t believe so at all.
SID: I don’t either.
MARILYN: I don’t do at all, and it says some only come out by prayer and fasting, I think it is the power twins.
SID: Okay, let’s take a look at some of this fruit in Pakistan.
Over the five days of the crusade the city the city of Lahore pulsed with the power of God as healing and miracles occurred night after night. For instance a young girl, born with a foot twisted backward had her foot straightened and she was able to walk normally, a boy whose crippled hand was closed by polio could open his hand, many deaf children had their healing restored, and countless blind children received their sight.
SID: Marilyn, that is so, as God said, I have something so wonderful for you, you could have missed it.
MARILYN: I could have missed it, and you know I just heard this the other day about a woman who fasted just one meal and what happened to her son, and this woman shared this on a radio program and she said she had been in a meeting I had like a Bible encounter where we see Jesus in every book of the Bible, and so, it’s a 21, in 21 hours you go through the whole Bible, and so at lunchtime she was sitting in her car having her lunch and this BMW drove by and four guys jumped out and started running down the street after another man, and cut him up. And the man that was cut up came running to her car, opened the door, fell into the car, with his head on her lap, he is bleeding, they cut his throat, she is a nurse, so she holds the juggler, and she said if you are a Christian, blink your eyes twice, if you are not blink once, he blinked once. She said I am going to lead you in a prayer, if you pray the prayer, then blink your eyes twice, so that I know that you have Jesus in your heart. So she prays, he blinks his eyes twice, she said I could tell he was dying, the ambulance comes at that time, they take him, she comes in at the encounter, she’s on the front row, she is bloody, I pray with her, have someone take her out, and she said the mother of this boy was also in this same Bible encounter.
SID: Just happened to be there.
MARILYN: Yes, and at lunchtime she was going to go have lunch and the Holy Spirit impressed her, don’t go out for lunch, fast your lunch and pray for your son. so while she is seated in this sanctuary at Jack Hayford’s church, she is praying, fasting one meal, she is there, this woman is seated in her car leading her son to Christ and the son dies on the way to the hospital.
SID: Do you realize that if she had not fasted how her life would have been changed? Do you realize how your life is going to be changed in every arena of your life as you live a prayer and fasted life? God is saying to you, He didn’t just say it to Marilyn, God is saying to you, I have something so wonderful for you, but there are two paths, you choose right now, do you want your sins totally forgiven, do you want your sins put on Jesus, and you would be open for God to live inside of you, become real and direct your life and give you a destiny and give you a purpose and give you hope? And give you shalom, give you peace, that’s what you want, peace, listen if God is for you nothing, no weapon formed against you can prosper. He has something so wonderful for you, but the choice is yours, Marilyn could have missed it, easy, but you become so sensitive to God when you pray and fast, but one prayer from an honest heart, your sins will be washed away and Jesus will become your Messiah and Lord. Ask God who Jesus is, He will tell you, yes He will.
