Sid: And I can’t think of a better way for you to be red hot for Jesus is if the Spirit of God if you believe that same Spirit of God that raised Jesus from the dead is living inside of you; if you believe that Jesus Himself is living inside of you; and if you believe the word that says that you’ll do the same things He’s done and even greater well that’s going to be normal. It’s about time you become normal and I have a guest whose passion is for you to be normal. He’s name is Kevin Dedmon. He teaches students at Bethel School in Redding, California and he has a brand new book called, “Unlocking Heaven.” He has such a passion for you to be normal and he has keys that he’s found over the years that are so phenomenal, so different than I’ve seen in any other book. But in 2003 Kevin you had a problem you had two herniated disks and for sixteen years is it true that you had to keep ice packs in your pants?
Kevin: Absolutely, it was, it was just horrible I couldn’t play sports, you know I couldn’t play basketball, couldn’t ski, could barely sleep at night, I would have to sleep with pillows between my legs, I would have to change positions about every half an hour or so or more. Could even hardly function during the day because of the pain.
Sid: And you had prayed and you didn’t see results?
Kevin: I had everybody pray for me.
Sid: And every great man or woman of God that walked through the doors of the church you’d have lay hands on you I bet.
Kevin: That’s right, that’s right and I actually got a breakthrough one night. I was co-leading a meeting after a mission’s trip and we just began to experience just an overwhelming sense of God’s presence to the point where the leader and I just ended up laying out on the stage; and just resting there on the stage just being caught in His presence. And it was almost like I was caught up into this vision where it felt like I was floating and there was this white light all around me, but I knew I wasn’t floating, but it just felt that way. And it just felt like I was there for hours and all of a sudden I realized that I had no more pain my back and in my neck where I had had two whip lashes. And I got up and looked at my watch and saw that I’d been lying there for an hour in the same spot on a hard stage floor and all the pain was completely gone and ever since then I have been skiing, playing basketball, tennis, sleeping soundly through the whole night and I’ve never experienced any more pain since. So it’s wonderful, just lying in His presence I wasn’t even thinking about being healed. Ha-ha-ha.
Sid: You have so many amazing concepts and keys I would call them to walking in the supernatural in your new book “Unlocking Heaven.” But another thing that intrigues me is that you go out on a regular basis with the students from Bethel and you have three requirements for them, what are they?
Kevin: Well, the first requirement is that they get drunk, and what I mean by that is being totally immersed in the Holy Spirit. Like Peter said, “On the day of Pentecost, were not drunk like you think were drunk, this is that which was prophesied by Joel that the Spirit would be poured out on all flesh.” And so then Paul of course taught us in Ephesians 5:18, actually commanded us to be filled everyday with the Spirit of God, to be not drunk with wine which leads to debauchery, but rather be filled with the Spirit. And that word debauchery is losing your inhibitions so that you do things that you are either ashamed of or should be the next day. And so he said, don’t be drunk with the wine of the world because you are going to lose all your fear, you are going to lose all of your inhibition and you’re going to do things that you’re sorry for and rather be filled with the Holy Spirit. Why, because you are going to lose all your fear, you’re going to lose all of your inhibitions so that you are going to do crazy things that you are going to be really proud of the next day. Like, reaching out and praying for somebody in a wheelchair and seeing them healed and prophesying over someone and changing their whole life because you called out they’re gold. And so Peter is a classic example of somebody who is so fearful, hiding in the upper room before the day of Pentecost, even denying Jesus three times, once to His face. And yet he gets drunk on the day of Pentecost, gets filled with the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost and he loses all fear and preaches to the multitudes that are gathered around now to see the spectacle and 3,000 people get saved on that very day. Why, because Peter got drunk. So I tell our students, “Listen you’re not going to be any use to me unless you are drunk, because if you are not drunk you are not going to take risk, and if you are drunk you are drunk you will take more risk and you’ll step out to, you know heal the sick, raise the dead, to do whatever it is that God put’s in front of you. And so I require that they get drunk, And second rule is stay drunk, they’ve got to stay drunk the whole time they’re with me because they’ve got to continually take risks and drunk people take more risks than do sober people. And then the third, the third rule is that they got to get other people drunk. We’ve got to impart the culture that we’ve been cultivating in our own lives. We’ve got to cultivate this Supernatural Kingdom of joy and release it to the church to people who so desperately need the joy of the Lord because that’s our strength that’s our empowerment if you will. And so without the joy of the Lord there’s really not going to be a whole lot of Kingdom power.
Sid: Now how does someone get drunk in the Holy Spirit?
Kevin: Well, it’s really being filled with the Spirit and of course all of us have different ideas of what that might look like. And so for some people they think that being filled with the Spirit is only being quiet, or only shouting, or only crying, but there are lots of different manifestations of the presence of God and joy is a big part of being filled with the Spirit. And so some of that is just you know just saying I’m just going to laugh, ha-ha because it really does feel good to be in God’s presence. And so cultivating that is really important.
Sid: Well, I believe that it has to be cultivated, but it can also be imparted, could you impart the joy of the Lord to those that are listening right now?
Kevin: Ha-ha, yeah well we just release anybody that has been depressed, hopeless, just feeling miserable, feeling like maybe like that maybe God’s not please with them in some way. We just release right now the confidence that God is in a good mood today and that He is smiling and that He is laughing from Heaven, not at you, but with you because of the good news that He’s released to your life. And so we just release that now in Jesus Name. Ha-ha yeah just take it yep and then you just start going with it.
Sid: Okay, so you have your students filled with the Spirit to overflowing, they are laughing, they are crying, they are at peace, they’re quiet, they are all different things that happen when you’re filled with the Spirit and then they start leaking because they have so much of the Spirit of God it starts leaking out of them on other people. Tell me an actual situation with your students.
Kevin: Well, I’ll tell you a story about one of our travel times. We stopped to get some gas in this place called Button Willow California, just a truck stop basically. And our students they pile out of the van, and they pile on to the concrete between the two gas pumps and I’m pumping the gas and I’m watching our students about nine or ten of them and their just in a big dog pile in between the gas pumps and they’re laughing hysterically. I look over to the other gas pump on the other side and there’s a Hispanic man and he’s watching this and I’m thinking to myself, “Oh, he must think were absolutely crazy.” And then just then he catches the attention of one of our students who says to this Hispanic man he says, “Do you want some of this?” And the Hispanic man just nodes his head, “Yes.” And the student asks, “Well, do you know what this is?” And he shakes his head, “No I don’t.” He says then come on over here and so the guy ends up coming over. Right on the spot he gets saved; He asked Jesus into his life; he gets filled with the Spirit. He starts speaking in tongues and it doesn’t know what any of this is. And then he starts laughing hysterically and so that’s just a classic example of what I call drinking and leaking and somebody just getting the overflow of supernatural joy as it’s being released. And this guy as we left the gas station he’s in his truck cab and he’s laughing in his truck cab by himself as we take off out the gas station. And that’s just a good day right there.
Sid: There’s so many of these students that you take with you that do exactly what you do, they prophecy over people, they pray for creative miracles. Tell me about one healing involving students.
Kevin: Well, we had one guy who I took down to Ecuador with me last spring and he actually he had a stomach bacteria all week long where he couldn’t keep any food down. But he just kept coming and kept stepping out and just taking risk and you know just drinking continually. Well, by the fifth day he prayed for this woman who had had a tumor on her ulna bone in her forearm and they had to remove six inches out of her ulna bone so that all that was left was just this hole in her arm and fatty tissue. It was all sponge like in this area, she had no bone whatsoever. And so he just grabbed a hold of this thing and he was feeling so bad himself you know because of this bacteria that was in his intestines. And he just grabbed on to this thing and just started laughing and a few minutes later the woman started screaming out because she could feel the bone growing back into her forearm. And she had after about five minutes of laughing she had received six inches of her ulna bone back, it had completely grown back. And all of her friends had gathered around, their all crying, laughing; it was a party that day.
Sid: I want you to have a party…
