Sid: My guest by way of telephone is Dr. Bree Keyton and she’s written a book called “The Passion What Does it Mean? But this is the first time that you’ll see the passion through Jewish eyes and that’s the way you have to see it because that’s what had happened. I mean on the cross it said “King of the Jews.” So when you saw the movie by Mel Gibson as good as that was there is a depth that you can’t get from a movie, you can’t get unless you see “The Passion” through Jewish eyes… it was birthed through several years of prayer and fasting and actually started from a vision by God in which she literally saw the Crucifixion; she saw “The Passion” and she said to me was what Mel Gibson did he’s been accused of having it look too violent. It was nothing compared to what I saw that our Messiah went through in the Passion. So she’s captured this in her book and her music CD which people are being healed and delivered. But Bree you were a professional singer, you were shot in the head, I mean you should have been dead by now. You know Bree on yesterday’s broadcast you talked about your last words were after you were singing a Janis Joplin song because you were a professional singer and your voice box literally tore out and blood started gushing. And you’re not a Christian but yet you prayed, explain.
Bree: Well I had a friend who had been a Christian he was pretty backslidden at that time but he said “Why don’t you just get on your knees and ask God to heal your voice.” So that’s what I did, I got on my knees and I said “God if You’re really there heal my voice and I’ll give it to You.” Of course I couldn’t speak out loud I didn’t have a voice but I mouthed the words and God heard that prayer and He instantly healed my voice, I got up off my knees with my full 4 octave range back and that summer just about a month later I sang in some light opera, I sang the part of Eve in the show “Adam and Eve” from the Apple Tree if you could imagine.
Sid: Now let me ask you a question, you still didn’t know the Messiah with all the times that God spared your life. You were in a car, in a plane, in a train crash, I mean not to mention being shot in the head with a bullet. You’re surviving all of these things but your life as getting worse and you actually wanted to commit suicide tell me about that time.
Bree: Yeah I went through so much I reached a point that I got very depressed that anyone would under those conditions and I got out all of my pills in a hotel room somewhere in Florida to take my life. And as I lifted the pills to my mouth the phone rang and it was Steve who was my keyboard player at that time, and of course he’s now my husband. And he said “Turn on the TV there’s something you have got to see and I said “Leave me alone.” And he said “No, turn it on and there was Pat Roberson of the 700 Club pointing right at the screen and he said the words, “Put down those pills.” I said “Wow! God you got my number, I know you love me now!” And you know that was the moment, that was the turning point, really I reached the end of myself to the point of death and that was when God met me. It doesn’t matter how low you go or how high you go God is always there and He will not desert us even in our darkest hour and our time of trouble and that’s because He loves us.
Sid: Bree now of course you use your voice only to glorify God but tell me how you don’t come from a Jewish background; how did you develop this love for Israel, this love for the Jewish people? Of which you never could have written the book “The Passion What Does it Mean” if you didn’t have that.”
Bree: Of course God is set so deep in my heart because I spend time with Him and I love Him so much that I want to…
Sid: When you say “I spend time with Him” what do you mean by that?
Bree: I pray, I fast, and I read His word and when you do that you can’t help but love Israel, you can’t help but love the Jewish people. God’s Messiah, His own Son was Jewish, God loves the Jewish people and I don’t see how you can be a Christian and not love the Jews.
Sid: Okay let’s just have a fictitious person, he happens to be a Christian and he happens to be boldly saying that the Jews are guilty for the death of Jesus that’s why I am anti-Semitic, anti-Jewish. What would you say to him?
Bree: Well I would say that Jesus Himself was a Jew; how could you be anti-Semitic. But the Messiah came through the Lion of the Tribe of Judah it came from that line. King David was promised that Messiah would come through you bloodline. Well that’s exactly what occurred. We know that the word of God is true and unbreakable; how can you hate the Jews when they are the ones that kept the Tanach, they kept the Torah; and they kept the written and they preserved it over time and every from Genesis 49:10.
Sid: Bree in your book you have a chapter called “Who is Guilty for Jesus’ Death.” My favorite answer to that question when some misguided person thinks that the Jewish people are totally responsible for the death of Jesus is to tell them to turn to Acts chapter 4 verse 27. Which says “For truly against your holy child Jesus whom you have appointed both Herod,” aha! He’s the one responsible and Pontius Pilate with the nations. Oh, it’s the Gentiles that killed Jesus and the people of Israel. Well you know what Bree if you get the Gentiles and the people of Israel together who have you got? The whole world; explain what you would say to someone that is anti-Jewish that thinks that the Jewish people are responsible for killing Jesus.
Bree: You know what we were all responsible and if you want to know who killed Jesus hold up a mirror and look at it it was every single one of us that are responsible. We can’t be pointing a finger because Jesus Himself hung on the cross and said “Father, forgive them they know what they do.” He forgave them, yet you and I nailed Him to that cross and He went there out of love for us. Who’s responsible? Everybody, everybody is responsible for the death of our Savior.
Sid: You know Bree one of the more significant chapters in your book “The Passion.” You really go into detail of what the blood of Messiah does for us. Everyone knows about the blood but very few people understand what the blood does for us, would you explain that.
Bree: Jesus’ blood came from every part of His body, of course the thorns on His head blood streamed from there. The nails on His hands and feet blood streamed from there every part of Him the stripes on His back shed blood that every part of us might be redeemed through that shed blood. Even in His side; remember Eve was taken out of his side, and a bride was taken out of Adams side, the first Adam. Now the second Adam, Jesus Christ, a bride was taken out of His side; that’s us through His shed blood. And while in a deep sleep of death of that’s when we were delivered and saved and all of those marvelous things he purchased for us through His shed blood at Gethsemane.
Sid: You know in the scripture that I read a little bit earlier that was the one that said “Truly against your holy child Jesus who you have appointed. Both Herod and Pontius Pilate, and the Gentiles, and the people of Israel were gathered together, those were the 3 people groups which include everyone. There were actually two people groups which include everyone as to why Jesus died, but it goes on to say “In order to do whatever your hand and your counsel determine before to be done. And now Lord, behold their threatening’s and grant to your servants that with all boldness they may speak your word by stretching forth of Your hand for healing and miracles and wonders maybe done by the Name of your holy child Jesus. Bree, have you been seeing many miracles lately?
Bree: Oh my the miracles, the healing, when we make people aware that is when we show forth the glory of what He took for us on the way to the cross. People are so touched by this when they realize the suffering that He took for them they many times they will just receive their healing on the spot. And this song that I wrote “His Stripes” has touched so many and it’s really because of the magnificence of the plan of God when they realize how brilliant it was. How He preordained all of these things to happen. It really touches you to the core of your being and many are healed. We’ve seen blind eyes open, I particular love to see blind eyes open because that really symbolizes in so many ways that our eyes are open through Messiah.
Sid: But beyond that that’s considered a Messianic Miracle to prove that the Messiah, in fact that’s why they made such a big deal about that man born blind because that would prove that Jesus was the Messiah it’s a Messianic sign.
Bree: We’ve seen; I don’t know if anybody has been healed in our ministry that was born blind but I can tell you a number of blind people have been healed. I haven’t questioned them that closely but I can tell that many blind eyes. One man that I particularly remember he was at one of our concerts where we were ministering that song “Stripes” And he walked outside with us and saw the sunset for the first time in 15 years to see this beautiful sight as the hand of God touched his life. I think that’s the kind of thing that blesses me so much. And you know Sid, you have a lot of miracles in your ministry, what a marvelous thing that…
Sid: Well let’s put our faith together for tomorrow’s broadcast we’ll play your song “Stripes” again. And something that’s been happening lately that happened many years ago and just started again is deaf people. So between you and me we’re going to get our faith for the blind and for the deaf in the Name of Yeshua. But Mishpochah you pray whatever you need tomorrow because He paid the price for everything; you’ll get….
