Sid: My guest by way of telephone is Pastor George Bloomer. He’s Senior Pastor at Bethel Family Worship Center in Durham, North Carolina. He is a walking, breathing, living, miracle. As a young child he was raised in the projects in Brooklyn; he got into drugs, he got into cults, he was molested as a child, he got into gangs, he got into jail, I mean… you were sabotaged George I mean in one of the worst ways. How did you get out that mess?
George: Through the power of the Almighty Jesus Christ delivering… the power of God He set me free. I want to say hello to you and all of your listening audience and thanks for having me on today.
Sid: Well I’m going to tell you something Mishpocha, you’re going to have insight in deliverance like you’ve never heard before. Now tell me… let’s go back… tell me a little bit about your upbringing.
George: I was raised in Brooklyn, New York in an area called Red Hook Projects. My mother had 9 children by my father. My father went out and had I believe 15 other children by 6 other women in the projects. We was raised on welfare, government cheese and government butter, food stamps. By the age of 14 I was a part of the chain link gang running from store to store picking up distortion money. By 15 I was snorting about $300 a day worth of cocaine, what I didn’t snort I smoked, freebased it. Snatched the wrong pocketbook got thrown into Rikers Island Prison which became my processing chamber and gave my life over to the Lord for real this time. Came out of prison accepted the call to preach and 2 years into my ministry the old cocaine addiction came back and would take me 2 years delivered from what I thought I was delivered from. In my book “Witchcraft in the Pews” there’s a chapter in there titled “Abstinence is Not Deliverance.” Although I had abstained from it I was not truly delivered from it. It would take a little bit of time…
Sid: Out of curiosity you triggered something when you said that “Abstinence is not deliverance.” There are many people caught up in the gay lifestyle that become Christians and they just go in for abstinence and they don’t get set free. Could they be set free?
George: Yeah they can be set free, they can be set free but our religious philosophies many times teaches people religion and not relationship. Relationship with Jesus Christ demands a renunciation from dead works and sins and hidden things. 2nd Timothy chapter 2 verse number 19 says “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” So iniquity I believe is willful deviations from what we know to be the truth from God. So abstinence is abstinence but deliverance is when God comes and snatches it takes it out from the root and the very appetite of it then it becomes a tool of deliverance of the individuals. Because we don’t just go through ourselves we go through everyone that we come into contact with and they overcome through the word of our testimony.
Sid: Speaking about overcoming here you got saved while you were in prison, but you really did not get delivered especially your still back into cocaine. You’re actually preaching the gospel and you’re still involved in cocaine… that had to be a tug of war going on inside of you…
George: It was the most devastating thing to preach about a God and see others delivered and set free and I couldn’t get delivered and set free for myself. I came to one basic conclusion and that was that God allowed me to go through all that I went through so that I can be a blessing to those who are around me. He wanted to give me a testimony and testimony is an undeniable experience with God in the past to sustain you for your present difficulties, or futuristic difficulties. I believe that we go through for every person we are going to come in contact with. So much that happened to me in my life was to mold and shape and prepare me for this time in my life to be a blessing to others.
Sid: Now when you were 19 years old a pastor prayed for you and were what is known as slain in the spirit, the power of the Spirit of God just came upon you and literally knocked you down. For how long a period of time?
George: 2 hours or more.
Sid: What was going on when you were out for 2 hours?
George: Out for 2 hours I was in the spirit realm and a man approached me which I believe was an angel of the Lord. He approached me while I was stretched suspended in space and I was in the spirit world. I could hear things going on around me in the natural arena but my focus, my mind was focused on what was taking place in the spirit realm. He took his finger strangely enough and he put it through my nose and went down my throat into my stomach and opened up as a suction hose or tool and began to suck things out of my inner man, out of my spirit, out of my appetite. He pulled that hand and when the hand came out I opened up my eyes and I had a little nose bleed. Everyone in the church was gone except for the workers who… well they were working with me praying for me for about 2 hours. The lights cut out and the appetite for cocaine, heroin, and those things that I would crush, snort, and smoke was snatched from me. That was my first supernatural encounter with God.
Sid: But having been set free in such a supernatural fashion it gives you the faith to help other set people free. For instance, you did a meeting recently with T.D. Jakes where there were 5000 men and there was deliverance going on, explain what happened.
George: St. Petersburg, Florida Tropicana Fields Manpower. I’m up there ministering and Satan tries to disrupt the service there’s all kinds of outbursts and I realized that this was a demonic attack but God is going to use this too to stage deliverance. So I flow in the spirit and we cast this demon out of a young man who was a career addict, heroin addict. When we set him free from the demonic addiction the 5000 plus men rush, bombard, the altars crying out to God being delivered and set free from all different types of addictions. Pornography, and from drug addictions, alcohol, and rage, and making commitments to pay their child support over their illegitimate children. Being set free from a spirit of rejection, and hatred, and so on and so forth like that. Powerful, powerful time in the Lord in Florida with Bishop T.D. Jakes at Manpower.
Sid: Speaking about hatred, as a young man you were involved in a cult group called the Hebrew Israelites…
George: Hebrew Israelites, I want to take a moment and explain one thing about the Hebrew Israelites. It is the craziest, one of the craziest movements it’s one of the offshoots or off springs of Louis Farrakhan’s nation of Islam. The Hebrew Israelites are believed to be connected with the lost tribes, one the lost tribes of Israel the tribe of Dan, out of Numbers chapter number 13 in the Bible of course that’s what they believe they are. It’s a hate group they hate everything and everybody and believe that blacks are the chosen people. I’m so glad the Lord delivered me and set me free from that, but I’m also thankful to Him that He allowed me to go through the experience to give me the insight on how Satan operates and works and deals with people in their mind.
Sid: You mentioned a group of course that everyone’s familiar with Louis Farrakhan’s group. If you were talking to a black Muslim, what’s the first thing you’d say to them?
George: In terms of…
Sid: Setting them free.
George: Just to set them free?
Sid: Yes.
George: I would take them to the Quran and I would show them in the Quran where the philosophy and ideology of Islam teaches peace, but then I would take them into their bible in the Quran and show them the hatred in the scriptures. The disregard for women, and I would show them where their mission is to convert all men to Islam and to dismiss or annihilate those refuse to convert. From that basis I would begin to teach on the love of Jesus and the love of God.
Sid: You’re saying that the Quran teaches if someone doesn’t convert to annihilate them?
George: Yes I’m absolutely saying that. One of things about those things that are written in the Quran in the wake of 9/11, 2001 with the propaganda peace campaign going on about the nation of Islam…
Sid: I heard the president of the United States say that Islam is a peace loving religion.
George: Well the president of the United States is the one that I love and I truly truly pray for and I also voted for him, but he is misinformed when it comes down to the nation of Islam. It’s a propaganda campaign going on in our nation, of course not all Muslims are not like Bin Laden, not all the… they’re fundamentalists, and they have I believe there’s a cult with the Muslim organization. At the same time Islam does mean peace, it does mean submission, but if you listen to the writings and read the Quran there you will find in it the words that I previously spoke.
Sid: Hmm. I mean we’re just touching on so many areas and there are so many of our listeners that as children were molested and the affect that it’s had on them and how you got set free. We want to talk about that this week.
