Sid: I have a man on the telephone and you know “To whom much was forgiven they love much.” But I have a man who loves the Lord a lot his name Kris Vallotoon he’s the Senior Associate Pastor of Bethel Church in Redding, California. I mean his life was finished it was history. He never took a drug, he didn’t drink and all of a sudden a thought came to him. Here a Spirit Filled Christian and a thought came to him in the bathtub “You’re going to die.” And he accepted the thought and began to shake he shook so bad he shook for 3½ years he couldn’t sleep for more than an hour a night over that 3½ years. And his theology was that a Christian couldn’t have a demon so he couldn’t get help from God so he didn’t know what it was. And after 3½ years he head one man state one sentence on the radio and the sentence was in the Bible. He heard “For God has not given us the Spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind.” And the man said “Fear is a spirit and it will kill you.”And that freed him that word that anointed word freed him enough that all of a sudden God started dealing in his life and he was after 3½ years… I guess Kris had you pretty much resolved that you were going to be like that the rest of your life?
Kris: Oh yeah I had totally lost hope.
Sid: And the only reason you didn’t commit suicide as you knew that was murder and a murderer doesn’t go to heaven. So you were really stuck you didn’t want to live you didn’t want to commit suicide there was nothing you could do about it, you thought. And tell me some of the things that you learned as a result of this.
Kris: Like you know what I’ve learned God is just God is just so blessed me and showed me so many things God has just so privileged me in being part at helping other people through what I’ve been through. I quoted a verse yesterday and I’d like to just read it to you.
Sid: Please.
Kris: Chapter 10, 2nd Corinthians chapter 10 “For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh or they are not carnal but they are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses for destroying speculation every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God; we’re taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” Now Sid did you notice what that said? It said “We’re destroying fortresses” and the context there is the thoughts that are in our minds. What I learned is that our mind was a war ground where the enemy would try to come in and destroy us in our minds. And the Lord began to show me you know l John 4 says this “Beloved (that’s us) those that are the object of God’s love; don’t believe every spirit but test the spirits to see if they are from God for many false prophets have went out into the world.” What I learned right away is that we the Beloved we can hear from spirits that aren’t God’s Spirit and that those spirits want to influence us. In fact the ultimate here says that those spirits want to influence us to become false prophet. And what I learned is that my mind my mind was the link between the natural world and the spirit world. And that my mind could receive information from the spirit world from 4 different sources from my spirit in other mind my mind could hear from my spirit. It could hear from the Holy Spirit, it could hear from evil spirits and it could hear from angels. And when an evil spirit spoke to me I believed him and whoever you fear, whoever you believe, whoever you fear you will serve. And I served an evil spirit.
Sid: You know I was thinking you said earlier this week that your father died through drowning at age 3.
Kris: Yes.
Sid: And you didn’t really even understand death all you knew at 3 was that he just didn’t show up. So you had a built in fear of death from just a child.
Kris: You want me to tell you a really brief story about that.
Sid: Yes please.
Kris: My father drowned when I was 3 years old and for 6 months before my father drowned he told my mother “I’m going to die.
Sid: Hmm.
Kris: I’m going to die, I’m going to die, I know I’m going to die.” Now my father played football for Berkley my father was not a fearful man. He got drafted by pro-football, he was a Phys Ed Teacher, my father was a strong brave man, and yet my father was tormented by a spirit of fear.
Sid: Do you believe that spirit ended up killing him?
Kris: Yes.
Sid: I do too you’ve got to watch out Mishpochah if you get a thought and you start believing it and you start talking about it then it becomes what Kris has described as a stronghold a fortress if you will.
Kris: So you know how that spirit came into my father?
Sid: How?
Kris: My mother let a man read tarot cards for her before she was married and the guy who read tarot cards for her said “You will marry 3 times.”
Sid: Hm.
Kris: You know when we submit ourselves to psychics, and to sorcerers, and to tarot card readers they release curses over us.
Sid: What should someone do that a light bulb has just gone on and they say “Well someone I called the psychic network, which again it’s an abomination of according to Deuteronomy 18th chapter I just called the psychic and he told me something was going to happen and I have believed it. And now I realize that information wasn’t from God what do I do about it?
Kris: Sid do you know how psychic’s prophecy?
Sid: I assume they prophecy from familiar spirit.
Kris: They prophecy by from a familiar spirit but do you know how a familiar spirit knows the future? He causes it.
Sid: Oh very interesting.
Kris: The future.
Sid: So if he so if a familiar spirit says “You’re going to have an accident in your automobile then you buy it you believe it and he makes it happen.
Kris: He makes it happen he does not know the future only God knows the future. Psychics, sorcerers, tarot card readers they prophecy the future through causing it by sending evil spirits to do their will.
Sid: And what you do if I’m understanding you right is when you are given the thought or the word from a psychic you help that occur by agreeing with it it’s sort of agreeing with the word of God or agreeing with the word of the devil.
Kris: That’s exactly right Sid you bring power into your life by agreeing with God “Wherever two or three are gathered” we know that well right.
Sid: Right.
Kris: We also bring power into our lives by agreeing with the enemy. If we agree with the enemy we give a place for him to come in to manipulate us and control us.
Sid: Okay a light bulb comes on says “Okay I just realize I’ve done that what do I do about it how can I stop it? How can I break that curse that’s what it is the curse?”
Kris: There’s 2 ways there’s 2 reasons why people are in bondage let me just read you this little passage. Isaiah 61 and I am going to answer your question, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted.” (That word brokenhearted is really Arabic because it means shattered mind) “To proclaim liberty to the captives and freedom to prisoners, did you see that there’s 2 kinds of people behind bars captives and prisoners.”
Sid: It sounds the same to me.
Kris: It sounds the same doesn’t it but captives are people that get captured in battle aren’t they so they’re behind bars but their captured in battle. Prisoners are somebody that the judge sends to prison. In other words, when someone’s demonized like I was there are 2 reasons why people get demonized. Once they’re either captive, and captives are people that believe a lie. They can be believers they can be out in the battlefield, they can be warring against the enemy and suddenly believe a lie. And captives get free by knowing the truth. When you know the truth it will free you, when you know the truth it will free you. Captives are released by knowing the truth. The word truth there is the word we get our word reality. You’ll know reality and it will free you.
Sid: You know a thought has crossed my mind because someone gave a prophecy to a pastor that there were people in his church that were thinking about marrying someone else because they were more spiritual then their spouse and one thought could accomplish and end up in a divorce and a shipwreck.
Kris: That’s exactly right that’s exactly right and those people would be captive captives wouldn’t they?
Sid: Yes.
Kris: Those people could be Christians but they believe the lie. And I was the captive I believed the lie. I believed that I was going to die I believed the enemy had power to kill me and that was a lie. The other people who are behind bars in this Isaiah 61 scripture are prisoners. And prisoners… here’s a really interesting thing in Matthew 18 Jesus tells the story of the king who forgave the guy who owed him a million dollars. Do you remember that?
Sid: Yes.
Kris: And the servant who owed him all of the money a million dollars and he had a friend that owed him oh a few hundred dollars and he said to his friend says “Well I can’t pay you be patient with me.” He said “I’m not going to be patient with you and he has him thrown in to prison” remember that?
Sid: Right and he forgot how the goodness of the king and he sure pay back his friend the way he paid him back.
Kris: That’s right and the king forgave him but he threw his friend in prison. So the king finds out about it and he comes to the servant and he says “Why didn’t you forgive your friend I forgave you everything.” And in verse 34 of chapter 18 of Matthew he said something I think profound. And he says “His lord moved with anger handed him over to the tortures until he should repay all of that he owed him.” And in verse 30 Sid you know it would be nice if it ended there but it ended with verse 35 “So shall my Heavenly Father also to you if each of you do not forgive his brother from his heart.” You know captives are people who believe a lie, but prisoners are people that don’t forgive. And if you don’t forgive what happens it says “And the lord moved with anger hand him over to the torturers.” The torturers…
Sid: Some translations say “the tormenters.” That’s even worse.
Kris: Yeah and Jesus said “And so shall My Father do to you.” You know there’s a verse in the Bible…
Sid: Kris I’m sorry we’ll pick up right here Mishpochah and we will pray on tomorrow’s broadcast we won’t forget that.
