Sid: I have to interrupt what I’m saying right now with a commercial from our sponsor, God. And God is telling me that some of you are listening to lies, they are called lying symptoms, they are called about that you’re sick and how can two walk together unless they be agreed, you must start saying what God says about you. And I believe that many of you if you’ll just change your focus on to God rather than your focus on your diseases you are going to find out because you see Heaven is drawing so close to earth right now that there is healing anointing that’s not only are you to be in agreement with God but right now there’s a healing anointing that’s flowing right through your radio or right through your CD player and it’s a healing of, it’s anointing for healing of spirit, soul and body. And I believe in Yeshua’s name that if you have pain in your body anywhere, if you will move you will find out that you are healed. I command cancer to leave, I command hearts to be whole, I thank you Father, well all things are possible this moment even ears are being opened, deafness spirit of deafness leave in Jesus name. My guest is Roberta Simpson, and Robert like myself is a Jewish believer in the Messiah. At age 70 God said, “You can start writing now.” And she had been told by a pastor that she really wasn’t gifted in this area although she was a gifted story teller, so she kind of decided I’m not going to be a writer. But the minute God spoke that to her it triggered faith and I’m holding in my hand Roberta right “Nana’s Bible Stories.” And these are the most wonderful stories to read to your children and your grandchildren. I would say almost any age but you told me that it really is geared to age 4 through 8. But I’ll tell you what, I bet a lot of adults would benefit from reading these stories and I know it’s brand new Roberta but do you have much feedback from adults that are buying this for their children and grandchildren?
Roberta: Yes, the book has not been out very long, but one of the stories it seems to be really touching people is the one called “The butterfly and the cross.” And that about a butterfly who goes and she actually gets stuck on the cross and she’s seen Jesus before and she knows in her heart that He is a King and…
Sid: Now how in the world did your imagination come up with this Roberta?
Roberta: Well, that’s a good one because I’ve named all the characters in the stories after my grandchildren.
Sid: Awe ha.
Roberta: There was my granddaughter Alexandra who was six at the time, I said to her “What would you like to be in a story? And she said, “Oh I don’t know.” And I said, would you like to be Queen Esther’s best friend and live in a palace and she said, “No, I don’t want to be that.” And I said, “What would you like to be? And she said, “I want to be a butterfly.” So I thought to myself, “Ah, there’s no butterflies in the Bible,” you know no stories about butterflies. Then she said, “I want to be butterfly at the crucifixion.” That knocked me for six, but you know what a couple of weeks later I just knew how I was going to write that story.
Sid: Well, Steve Hill at the Brownsville Revival whose been speaking at the end of each days broadcast told me that he began weeping when he understood that story.
Roberta: Hm hm.
Sid: I mean it really what a great story to lead into salvation for a young person. By the way where did you get all of these beautiful this beautiful artwork for all of your stories?
Roberta: Well, Susan Mitchell, I think has done the most amazing job and I did see her art work. I saw a lot of other art work after I’d seen hers but I just went back to her, she is the one. I loved her color, I loved the expressions and whether it’s a butterfly or a donkey or a person the expressions are wonderful and we kind of worked together getting a look for Jesus. I wanted something to come out in His eyes love and compassion and I believe she’s done…
Sid: Isn’t that what you saw when you became a believer in Messiah all of those years ago.
Roberta: Absolutely.
Sid: So you knew what you were looking for, I’d like our Mishpochah to hear an excerpt from the “The Butterfly and the Cross” and this is Sheila Walsh she reads this on a CD which comes with the book, but I kind of like idea, I would like to read this to my granddaughter myself. Here’s the excerpt “Butterfly and the Cross”
Sheila: Everyone was watching one man, a man carrying a wooden thing almost like a tree, he looked as if he had been beaten. The business of humans usually is of little interest to butterflies; on this day butterflies took notice of the crowd. The butterflies flew closer to the hill called Golgotha. “Look cried the Tiger butterfly that is man called “Jesus, I once saw him heal a man whose legs didn’t work.” “I saw him fix the eyes of a blind man” said another. “That’s the one who brought the dead man back to life,” Alex said triumphantly. No one had believed her when she told them that story. Jesus reached the top of the hill and the butterflies watched helplessly as the angry people hung him on the cross shaped wood. She could see the ugly nails in his feet and hands drawn by something she didn’t understand. Alexander fluttered her wings and flowed toward the hill. Come back Alex it’s not safe, called her frightened friends. She flew to his right and landed on the cross. She looked into Jesus face and all she could see was an expression of love. She couldn’t believe that this man who had done nothing wrong could love even the people who hurt him. I don’t understand everything that goes on with you humans, but I know that there I no one like this man she thought. She could tell that he was going to die. You are indeed a King she whispered to Jesus. Alexandria started to fly back to safety but found that she couldn’t move the bottom tip of one of her delicate wings was stuck under a long splinter of the rough wood. She struggled to get free, Alex was so afraid, would she die too? And in answer to her fear a single drop of blood ran down from one of Jesus hands and fell on her trapped wing, the blood loosened her wing and set her free.
Sid: Now Roberta you had the most wonderful dream in which God told you the purpose for your life and it involved our people the Jewish people, tell me about that dream.
Roberta: Well, I was in Canada at the time and finally enough I was invited to go and speak to these different groups of women called “Christian Women’s Club” and I was in bed one night couldn’t get to sleep. The children of the household were running up and down the stairs and anyway actually I did go to sleep and I had this dream and it was so real that I mean that had to be like thirty years ago now and I could still you know and hear this dream. And I dreamt that I heard this voice saying “Roberta,” and I looked up and I saw this bright white light and I saw it was like a throne and I couldn’t make out the person on the throne, but I knew someone was on the throne and underneath just in case I didn’t get it Sid was the throne of God. I mean it couldn’t have been clearer than that. And this voice said to me, and it was three times, Roberta my perfect will for you is to share me with Jewish people. And each time well, twice I said, “No God not me I can’t I’ll do anything for you but not that.” And then the third time when He spoke to me I knew that I had to say “Yes.” And I said, “Lord, I want to obey You and I want Your perfect will in my life because I know that I would not even be happy if I wasn’t in your perfect will. But there’s so many things I don’t understand and if I start sharing Jesus with Jewish people they’ll think I’m a traitor, they’ll think I’m this and I don’t see I’m the one to do that. And God said “I will show you everything you need to know and I’m going to use you to minister to Jewish people in Barbados, in the U.S., and in Israel.” And that was the end of the dream and I just could not run away from that.
Sid: Well, I believe that dream although it was all those years ago is about ready to really come into bloom at this moment. Because as those that listen to me on a regular basis, I am reporting that the spiritual scales are coming off the eyes of Jewish people and how can we call on Him who we’ve not heard?” Now some of you would say “Well if I had a dream like Roberta had I would reach the Jewish people.” Well, I have something even better than Roberta’s dream, the written word of the Living God, Romans 11:11, “Salvation has come to the Gentile to provoke the Jew to jealousy.” Every non-Jew that believes in Jesus in your spiritual DNA is to reach Jewish people with the gospel and if not now when God is removing the spiritual scales when? Do no miss your destiny and I’m going to have my friend Steve Hill who is so excited about Roberta’s book because actually I believe a book like this could reach so many Jewish people even young Jewish children. It’s a beautiful “Nana’s Bible Story” and the stories are anointed, they are from God. I want you to hear Steve Hill. Steve, you said that you were so excited about this book because of the impact it would have on children. And one of the things I remember you said to me is that you said, “The story about the butterfly just touched you so much,” why did it?
Steve Hill: Well Sid it talks about deliverance, okay this little butterfly flies up to the cross, get’s hung up on the cross on a splinter and then the blood drips down and releases the little butterfly’s wing. What an opportunity to share with kids how Christ can deliver us from bad situations.
Sid: What did you do personally with this book?
Steve Hill: Well, I’m sort of helping to introduce Roberta Simpson to the Christian world, she has a way of going straight to the heart of young people. Little kids will sit on her lap and listen to this Granma who has such a gift to relate Jesus and the pages of this book are full of Jesus Christ they are not just simple little stories, it’s all about how a young person can identify with our Lord and Savior. “Nana’s Bible Stories.”
