SID: Hello. Welcome to my world where it’s naturally supernatural. I love the rarified air of Heaven. Well my guest heard from God. He heard about the last next outpouring of miracles that could very well be not just the next, but the greatest, and not just the next and the greatest, but the last outpouring of miracles before Jesus comes. And he heard, well I just heard something. I just heard that someone’s neck has been healed and someone’s back has just been healed. And pain in the hip area around here, you’ve just been healed. And he from God that many, if they don’t do what God is going to explain to you, will miss this great outpouring of miracles. You know, when my guest, Robert Gay, was age 11, you provoke me to such jealousy. I mean, when I was 11, I didn’t know my left hand from my right hand. He was raised in a Pentecostal home. And at age 11, he was filled with the Holy Spirit, but way beyond filled with the Holy Spirit. He could not speak English for how long?
ROBERT: About a day, I couldn’t actually speak in English.
SID: That’s wonderful. What do you think about that? Were your parents concerned? Were you concerned?
ROBERT: Well actually, what happened is I went to a young meeting and just went with the intention of just being there at the youth meeting. And during the youth meeting they began to pray for people to actually receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit. And of course, I didn’t know really what the infilling of the Holy Spirit was.
SID: Even coming from a Pentecostal home.
ROBERT: Even coming from a Pentecostal home. I really didn’t have an understanding because it wasn’t regularly taught within our church. We were taught, adults were taught, you know, you need the infilling of the Holy Spirit. But as an 11-year-old boy, I really didn’t have an understanding of that. So I went to this youth meeting and they began to pray for people to be filled with the Holy Spirit. And I remember just because they were laying hands on people, I thought that was what you were supposed to do. So I went up and laid my hands on people. And I remember this one lady in front of me, as she was praying for people to be filled with the Holy Spirit, she was shaking. And so I thought, well that’s what you’re supposed to do. So as a little 11-year-old boy, I just started shaking as I was praying for people. And then the next thing I know, she turned around and she explained this to everybody that was there, “I believe this little boy right here can get baptized in the Holy Spirit.” And so she began to pray for me and they all began to pray for me, and I got baptized in the Holy Spirit. I went home that night. I could not speak in English. The only way I could really respond to my mother and father was just with a grunt. I went to bed speaking in tongues that night. Any time I would open my mouth to say anything, tongues would come out. The next morning, it continued even after I woke up, and I didn’t really know exactly what all was going on. But I knew that I had had a genuine experience, a supernatural experience with God.
SID: It’s so wonderful because that’s a super, tongues is a supernatural language that you speak from your spirit, not from your mind, and you say things and pray things that God wants you to be praying. You might have been praying for your child that doctors said were dead inside your wife when she was pregnant, your little girl.
ROBERT: Well that’s correct. Of course, we don’t know exactly what we’re praying for whenever we pray in the Holy Spirit. But that’s an interesting story and an interesting thing that took place. It was a supernatural experience, once again. My wife and I had actually received some prophetic words about having a daughter who would be a dancer in the house of the Lord. And this, back in February of 1988, is when we received those words. And then what began to take place is we received some other confirming words the next month in March. And then we found out my wife was pregnant. Not long after that, she began to bleed very heavily. She went to the doctor very concerned. Of course, we had already confirmed that she was pregnant and the doctor said, “You have a blighted ovum.” And basically, what had taken place is pregnancy had happened and literally, the embryo had died within the sac and there was no life, there was no heartbeat. There was absolutely no sign of life whatsoever. And she called me from the doctor and said, “The doctor said that I have a blighted ovum and they want to do a D & C procedure. What should we do?” And I told her, I said, “We’re not going to do anything other than we’re going to believe the word of the Lord, and we’re going to stand in warfare with the prophecy that we have concerning our child.”
SID: The prophecy was that she was going to be a dancer today. She got healed. She was delivered normal. Is she a dancer today? Tell me about the dancing.
ROBERT: Yes. When she grew up, first of all, she was born and then as she grew up she became a dancer. She became a competitive dancer. Today she actually heads up our arts and dance ministry at our church, and God is using her in a tremendous way. She stands up and prophesies the Word of the Lord.
SID: Wow. Tell me about your understanding of the New Covenant.
ROBERT: Well you know, of course, I think there’s some misunderstanding of the New Covenant and what actually that is. Of course, we know the New Covenant was ratified with the very blood of Jesus. Some have taken that to mean that because Jesus came, therefore the Ten Commandments are no longer relevant for us. But what I find and what I’ve taught people is that the Ten Commandments are still relevant for us today as New Covenant believers. Jeremiah talks about this and he says that there’s a new covenant that would come. And this of course was before the New Covenant actually had come, before Jesus had come. And he actually says that the covenant is going to be different in this way, that the Law of God is going to be written upon our hearts. So one of the things that we have to understand is that in the New Covenant it didn’t separate us from the Ten Commandments. As a matter of fact, it actually tied them to us, even to a greater level, because now the Law is no longer just written on a table of stone and imposed. Now the Law is written upon my heart and it now motivates me to live righteously. It motivates me to live a lifestyle of holiness before God.
SID: What did Jesus tell the rich young groomer?
ROBERT: Well the rich young groomer came to Jesus and asked him a question concerning, what do I need to do to inherit eternal life? And it’s very interesting, Jesus’ response. And his response was this: “Keep the commandments. Keep the commandments.” The commandments, of course, that he was referring to was actually the Ten Commandments. So Jesus actually said this: “The way that you experience abundant life, the way that you experience Zohar is by keeping the commandments.” And so Jesus in no way ever disavowed any of the Ten Commandments. As a matter of fact, Jesus rearticulated them. And not only that, but Jesus took them to the next level.
