Sid: We want everyone everywhere to be red hot for Jesus but there are some areas that are stopping you from fulfilling your destiny. Haven’t you sensed them, haven’t you just felt it? Well Jesus came to set you free and that’s easily preached, but walking it out experimentally but sometimes there’s blockages for you to even be set free whether it’s from harassing sins or whether it’s from physical infirmity. I have on the telephone from their headquarters in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida “Proclaiming His Word Ministries” Chester and Betsy Kylstra. And they have identified 4 foundational problem areas that if they’re not dealt with they can undermine your total healing. But let’s start out Betsy and Chester with… give me some examples of symptoms that people are dealing with that would be benefiting by your seminar or your workbook.
Chester: You could say most any symptom in fact some of us think we’re normal and we’re fine and in reality we’re having problems but probably the more obvious ones would be financial problems.
Sid: Have you noticed that parents may have financial problems and then that same financial problem passes onto the children?
Chester: Yeah that would be a very definite example.
Betsy: You see this particularly when people actually have a reasonable salary but it seems to just slip through their fingers and they are just not able to do constructed things with it and manage it.
Chester: There’s always back-downs and their scenery needing to be replaced it just seems like there’s just one thing after another.
Sid: Well identify some of the more obvious problems that people have.
Chester: Well besides the financial we see in the sexual area somebody that’s not able to have a normal fulfilling sexual life within their marriage, strangeness in personality people who are over-aggressive or over angry I guess anger is a pretty common thing in the United States particularly. But those who retreat and hide out are also trying to avoid more hurt, more pain. Obviously the extreme things might be someone who goes into trances forgets where they are. You just can’t remember your childhood you see that’s a pretty common clue.
Sid: Well why would someone not remember their childhood?
Chester: Well it usually has to do with pain that’s been hidden and buried so they don’t have to deal with it.
Sid: What about plain fears of all kinds?
Chester: Yep that’s very common and that also seems to be a particular result of curses when our family background or our ancestors have been involved in the occult. Some form of worshipping other gods or involved with witchcraft or activities that call on the… try to make use of the hidden powers and hidden knowledge.
Sid: Well as I read the newspapers the things that seem to be really in the forefront are sexual sins and sins and sins of deep abandonment and rejection. Betsy you went through that would you tell me about it.
Betsy: I did go through that and I think it’s very difficult for somebody to that’s raised Christian and really want to follow the Lord to have really the results of generational sexual sin working in their lives because you feel like such a failure. And you feel it’s such a stronghold and I know really as a child I had earmarks of sexual sin in my life, undo curiosity, the desire to experience sexually as a pre-preschool age child.
Sid: Now you were adopted tell me why you were adopted.
Betsy: Well I was adopted because my birthmother was a teenager and my birthfather was a teenager and they were from a very small town and they wanted to finish their education and they felt that it would be very unwise to try to raise me. They did not feel that they wanted to marry each other. So I was born in a Salvation Army Shelter and my mother was sent away and so I was put up for adoption. And then being adopted by a wonderful Christian family who raised me in godly ways but this generational sexual sin was coming down and affecting my life giving me sexual fantasy long time before I reached puberty. And so I had this trouble with that and deal with that and I felt like “What is a matter with me? I know Jesus but this ugly side of my life is happening.” And I know that later when I met my birth family and met my half sister that one of the things that she said about sexual sin in our family life. She said “For example Betsy I hate tell you this but 50% of our girls cousins had to get married because they were pregnant out of wedlock.” And so we could see this extended in the family and we see this same kind of things with sexual abuse and physical abuse and violence just coming right down the generational line and causing very deep wounding. So I had both the sexual abuse and that deep sense of being abandoned even though I was very loved my family that emotional abandonment had already affected my life.
Sid: How did you get set free?
Betsy: I got set free as the Lord Jesus came and spoke to me and said “I want you and I created you and I have purpose for you.” Also began to minister to me in some of the specific situations where I had felt rejected because I think rejection it’s so…it’s so deep it holds us back so much from God’s destiny that He really has for us. The Lord came and He really spoke to my heart, I sensed Him speaking to me healing words of purpose and acceptance.
Sid: Speaking of hearing from the Lord you told me before we went on the air God gave you a word for one of our listeners.
Betsy: I felt that the Lord said there was a person who was in their car listening who was having a lot of abdominal pain. And you were trying…it really created a fear for you and you were saying “I don’t know whether this is something really serious what am I supposed to do?” And I sense the Lord saying to you to listen to Him that He’s going to give you an impression but it is not a serious life threatening thing. That it is something to tend to through prayer and through His direction but it’s not life threatening. And I also sense the person’s whose eyes have been blurring up recently it’s like one minute you’re looking at the page and it’s clear and the next minute it’s blurry and fuzzy. And the Lord says “Come to Me and I’m going to bring your healing.” And so I just really sense the Lord’s hand out there with our family today.
Sid: Now you have ministered to leaders of congregations, you would think that by the time someone becomes leader they’re not going to need these foundational healing principals that you teach. Why does someone who’s become a leader need this?
Chester: Well it turns out leaders are still saints. There’s just a real lack of appreciation I think in the Christian world and I’ll call it the traditional Christian world that just because we’re born again even Spirit Filled doesn’t mean that everything gets taken care of. The sanctification process is a lifelong thing. We’ve seen… we feel very privileged ministering to leaders because they really have no place else to go. In fact The Healing House is an organization got started back in 1994 when first of all Betsy had been weeping for several weeks and suddenly the Lord said to her you’re weeping for my leaders or My shepherds.”And then Bishop Bill Hamon came to us who is a Founder of the Christian International Network and we’d been ministering to all of the leaders and Christian International, and he came and said “I really had as part of my vision to establish a safe place for leaders to come for ministry would you do this for me, would you set this up and have it be part of the vision of Christian International?” In 1994 we began to have people come. And many of the people who came were leaders and we found out that they needed it as much or more than anybody else because they are also a primary target for the enemy. So any open doors that are there they all take advantage of.
Sid: And you have found that when people go through your teaching or your workbook “Restoring the Foundations” and you teach on these 4 principal problem areas The Sins of the Fathers and the Resulting Curses, the Ungodly Beliefs, the Soul Spirit Hurts and as a result of that the Demonic Oppression.
Chester: Hmm hm.
Sid: You see people for the first time in their life getting free.
Chester: Sometimes it’s just absolutely phenomenal.
Sid: Give me one quick example.
Betsy: Can I read a testimony?
Sid: Please.
Betsy: This man said “I feel like a lion that has finally been put out to pasture where he could feel normal; I’m the only one who really knows because for 40 years I have been bound; someone asked me why it took so long? Well it wasn’t because I wasn’t trying I just didn’t have the teaching Restoring the Foundations. I do so badly want to tell others that they too can have this freedom.”
Sid: But actually entire churches are beginning to train their leaders in your principals and then the leaders are ministering to all of the people in their churches. That’s got to be very fulfilling to you.
Chester: It is very satisfying, as we’re training the church leaders, small group leaders, cell group leaders whatever kind of groups that the church has to minister to members in one evening or one session format taking one problem at a time and you can change a life solving one problem at a time whether it’s the abandonment or the alcoholism. But then also lay ministers that are doing a 15 hour format and many of them then go on and become healing house teams that are available to minister to the body of Christ.
Sid: And as people get set free in these foundational areas people are being physically healed?
Chester: Ah huh that happens too, do you have some examples there Betsy?
Betsy: I have some absolutely wonderful examples. We had a man in Russia whose collar bone got healed instantly just as he just in a seminar…
Chester: Where we were doing deliverance.
Betsy: Where we were doing deliverance we were going through the other 3 areas and as soon as we did could do deliverance the demons got out his collarbone which was giving him pain for years…
