Sid: As you know last month I was in Israel for miracle meetings exactly when the Passover war broke out. Later on in the week I’m going to tell you some amazing, amazing things that happened in Israel and some insight in to what’s going on. But I have on the telephone my friend Dr. Peter Gammons. I’m speaking to him I caught up with him in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He just recently did a TBN show. He has a book called “Israel in Prophecy” which is must reading for every Christian. Peter you are known for an individual that moves in signs and wonders, and miracles… I mean you’re my friend and I believe you and I’ve seen a video tapes of this but it’s still hard for me to believe how many people are deaf and mute instantly healed. I mean, I’ve seen video footage of this it’s exactly like Bible days. As a matter of fact when you were last on our television show and our radio show we got many reports of healings but let me just read one of them:
During the week Peter Gammons spoke a word of knowledge for someone being healed of cancer of the esophagus and he also said someone was receiving new fillings. I received healing and new fillings.
Now I mean to me on radio, on television a word of knowledge and someone’s minding their own business; they’re driving their car just like you might be doing right now, or working and doing some housework in the kitchen, or whatever circumstance and God decides to become real and someone has fillings, new fillings in their mouth, but even more important than that healed of cancer of the esophagus.
Peter: Isn’t that wonderful?
Sid: Peter I mean that will never stop thrilling me because the purpose of a miracle is to convince people the reality of God. But as far as I’m concerned there are even greater miracles than what we just talked about. They have to do with God writing before the fact exact dates and circumstances of what would happen in the future and they came true. In particular the nation of Israel, which all of a sudden as we can see Peter is front and center stage right now.
Peter: Yeah.
Sid: I have a book in my hands and I would not expect you to have written this book, the title is “Israel in Prophecy.” Why? I mean you’re a doctor and you’re certainly capable of doing such a book but I would expect you to write a book about miracles, about the physical nature. Why did you write this book “Israel in Prophecy?”
Peter: Well we’ve written quite a few books on miracles and other things, I’ve authored about 40 books. Then the Lord spoke to me a number of years back and said “What have you done for My people Israel?” I had looked back over my life and all of my crusades have been among the Gentile nations, all of my writings have been in that context. I began to feel that the Lord had wanted me to do something special. As I began to study the word of God I began to see how God’s hand is so incredibly upon Israel. Every point in the history, especially in the last 100 years I talk about it. As you look back over the history of Israel you know Pharaoh couldn’t drown them, Nebuchadnezzar couldn’t burn them, the lions couldn’t eat them, the big fish couldn’t digest them, Haman couldn’t hang them; God’s protection has been there over the years over God’s people Israel. When it comes to the word of God Israel seems to be God’s time peace, everything revolves around what God is doing with Israel. So I felt to honor God I had to do that and also to honor the Jewish people because so many years of misunderstanding and ant-Semitism and failure to understand that God has not neglected His people Israel but they are precious to Him. The salvation is of the Jews we owe everything to Israel we our Holy Book, we owe all of our prophets, all of our prophets are Jewish, all of our apostles were Jewish and of course our Savior was Jewish.
Sid: This is a small book and it’s not a complex book but you’ve packed so much amazing information that most people aren’t even aware of. For instance, I opened up to Appendix 1 called “Bless Israel” on page 41. I mean at this precise moment in history for the United States of America and for your homeland Great Britain to understand what… In Genesis 12:3 God makes an absolute statement “I’ll bless those who bless the Jewish people, and I’ll curse those who curse them.” I’m just going to read a few of the facts that you put in your book. It says:
- Is it a coincidence that once the Emperor Constantine embarked on his anti-Semitic laws and persecuted the Jews in AD 364 his empire was split in two?
- Is it a coincidence that Spain’s demise as a world power dates from 1492 the same year that 300,000 Spanish Jews were expelled?
- Is it a coincidence that Martin Luther died the very week that he preached his most vitriolic sermon against the Jews?
- Under Queen Victoria’s, Britain’s empire was the greatest in the world. Was this partly due to Britain’s warmth towards the Jewish people? For example, Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli was himself a Messianic Jew. Was it Churchill’s long standing support for the principle of a homeland for the Jew that caused his emergence from the political wilderness to lead Britain as prime minister? Was it his part in the covering up of the extermination of Jews in Europe that contributed to his losing the 1945 elections despite emerging from the war as a hero?
Peter: You see that’s amazing isn’t it Sid? When you think about that one what a hero Churchill was at the end of the war Churchill was, yet he lost the next election. That’s not natural but the way we respond to Israel and the way we bless or curse Israel will determine every destiny of nations.
Sid: Well I have personally great trepidation in my spirit for my country the United States of America because I believe we are the greatest country in the world because we have been a friend to Israel.
Peter: Yes.
Sid: But things are looking very crunchy and I believe the fate of releasing the judgment of God on nations is dependent upon our position on Israel. Let’s face it we as a nation have gone against everyone of God’s commandments and the only thread that’s holding us together I believe before judgment hits this country is the Genesis 12:3 blessing.
Peter: Yes, I just hope that the president has some good advisors who understand God’s love for Israel and His zealousness to protect her.
Sid: I mean this book of yours is so important at this strategic time. I don’t… did you realize… you said wrote it because you understood the debt that Christianity has to Israel. But did you realize the timing of this book how important it is?
Peter: No actually I wrote it back in about 1990 so it’s been written about 12 years. It was last… this year Paul Crouch picked it up and said “I’m going to make that a book of the month for TBN.” It seems to have come to the kingdom for such a time as this.
Sid: Isn’t it interesting it was buried, it was buried so to speak, then all of a sudden emerged at this strategic time.
Peter: Yeah. I thank God for it. One of the things that I’ve said and I’ve encouraged those of your listeners to send an extra gift and get an extra copy because the church needs to know this and Israel needs to know this. I’ve written it with such a love for Israel and an apology for the years of misunderstanding. I believe that it’ll be a real bridge builder between the Jewish people and believers.
Sid: Now there are… and this is what God wants to do to evolve the One New Man. I’m looking into chapter 2 called the “Jewish Identity.” You deal with one of the biggest traps of Satan to Christians, even true Christians, and it’s called “Replacement Theology.”
Peter: Yeah.
Sid: Tell me a bit about how this got established within of all places the church.
Peter: You often hear preachers say things like “The church being the new Israel” subjects and things like that. “Spiritual Israel” and things like that, terms that have often been used in the church yet they are totally without foundation in the word of God. Man made terms invented by some of the early fathers like Augusta, Origen, and Luther they used those words but they are not in the Bible. Of the 79 times the term Israel is used in the New Testament it’s used in exactly the same way that it’s used throughout the Old Testament to refer to the physical descendants of Abraham. It’s not used of the church, the church is different to Israel and Israel is different to the church.
Sid: You know, and I’m sure you’ll agree with me I’m kind of preaching the choir Peter when I say this. If someone were say like myself Jewish never heard anything about the New Testament about healing or anything and just got a copy of the New Testament and started reading it, they would come to the conclusion that God heals today and God will heal anyone. That’s… it doesn’t take any talent to see that you need help to get confused. I believe the same thing is true about Israel it’s so clear in the word of God the promises as to who’s supposed to have that land of Israel. What’s going to happen to nations that come against that land? It’s so clear literally we had to have supernatural help to get confused.
Peter: Yes we did. It’s interesting all the things in the Bible that it says “I would not have you ignorant of” the church is ignorant of.
Sid: Hmm.
Peter: It says “I would not have you ignorant concerning spiritual gifts” yet 90% of the church don’t understand spiritual gifts. “I would not have you ignorant concerning Israel” the Bible says, yet most of the church is. So God knew in advance the areas where believers would be ignorant and where they need teachers to teach them because this is not just something we can overlook it is vitally important to God and I believe it is the key to blessing and success of businesses, of nations, of presidents, of people’s ministries, their response to Israel.
Sid: You know something’s coming to mind is great German evangelist I assume you may even know him Reinhard Bonnke. I was with him in a campaign in Africa and he made the statement that when he was praying for his ministry in Africa, and rightly so he should have he’s one of the greatest soul winning ministries of this generation. When he was praying about it he started praying for souls in Africa and God said “Don’t do that.” God say “You pray for Israel and I’ll give you Africa.”
Peter: My goodness isn’t that wonderful. When you look at the incredible impact he has in Africa.
