Sid: How could you help but be read hot for the Messiah. I hope that you’ve been listening all this week because next week is Pentecost the Biblical festival of, say it with me “Shavuot.”
These festivals all over the world are being restored, why? Because it’s God time to graft the Jewish back into their own olive tree and cause the Jew and Gentile to be One New Man in Messiah. It’s like running the last lap of a relay race. God’s reserved His champion. He started out in the first laps with the Jewish people, then the Jewish believers in Jesus ran some laps. Then the Gentiles got the baton and ran the additional laps. Now it looks like we’re a little behind but don’t worry God’s not worried so you stop worrying. God’s champion is ready to come on the scene He calls it One New Man. One New Man is Jesus and it’s the Jew grabbing hold of the baton and the Gentile grabbing hold of the baton, both if you will under the glory of God the tallit, the prayer shawl of God running that last lap and devil watch out you’re history!
Well next week is Shavuot, Pentecost. On yesterday’s broadcast we were talking about what happens at a traditional Pentecost. What went on in the temple? Thousands of Jewish people would go to Jerusalem because this is one of 3 festivals in which you had to go to Jerusalem to celebrate.
They were sleeping in the streets and it was time to go to the temple and the priest comes down and he says “Get up let’s go to the house of the Lord our God!” Those are the exact words he would use. Someone playing the flute would lead the processional. The ox that was going to be sacrificed would go first and one its horns would have gold on it. People would hold their offerings in baskets because this is a time to bring your first fruits. It’s an agriculture festival a lot of people especially Jewish people, and Gentiles think it has something to do with the 10 commandments, well maybe it does and maybe it doesn’t. The Bible doesn’t say anything about that that was the 3rd century they started it but these were agricultural festivals. So each person would be carrying their first fruit and they would bake 2 loaves of bread with leaven. This would represent the crushing of their first fruits and making fine flour, this is like the crushing that goes on in our lives. The 2loaves represent God’s 2 witnesses Jew and Gentile One New Man in Messiah.
As a matter of fact I’ll give you a sneak preview of my new book called “The Last Lap,” which don’t order it yet it’s in the process of editing. But if you get our newsletter as soon as it’s out we’ll let you know about it.
I believe the 2 end time witnesses will be Jew and Gentile, One New Man in Messiah. Can you picture fire coming out of their mouth? Well I’m giving away where I’m heading.
So all of these Jewish people would go rejoicing I mean they were happy they were dancing. I think the traditional synagogues today, and we have the prayer book and we have some beautiful singing but it doesn’t even hold a candle to what it was in the temple days. The Levites would have the most glorious worship, the most magnificent worship of God. So they go dancing to the synagogue then they would read from scriptures. One of the scriptures they would read… I’m zeroing in right now to the 2nd chapter of the book of Acts. Well they wouldn’t read that, you know why? It wasn’t written at that time but the Jewish scriptures were written. What they would read is from the first chapter of the prophet Ezekiel. If you remember Ezekiel said “The heavens were opened and I saw visions of God.” Then in the 4th verse Ezekiel said “Then I looked and behold a whirlwind was coming out of the north a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself. Brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber out of the midst of the fire.”
So what did he see? What did he hear? He heard a wind and what did he see? Flames of fire. Well these thousands of Jewish people celebrating Pentecost, Shavuot, went to the temple they heard from the 1st chapter of Ezekiel. They left the temple and then suddenly something amazing happened that generation had never seen anything like that before, I mean it was absolutely radical.
In the 2nd chapter of the book of Acts I want to read that to you. You know next week is Pentecost. That’s why I’m preparing you for this great God celebration. It’s not just a Jewish celebration, it’s not just a Biblical celebration it’s a God celebration. There are so many trues hidden in understanding your Jewish roots.
You see when a Jewish person looks at Christianity they say “Well there’s nothing Jewish about Christianity.” When a Christian looks at Judaism they say “Well there’s nothing Christian about Judaism.” There is a wall of divide between Jew and Gentile. Guess who’s responsible for that? The devil. Guess who’s going to solve this problem? God because in Ephesians it talks about the wall of separation; Jesus came to remove the wall of separation between Jew and Gentile. The devil saw that and erected his own walls, but God’s last time glorious church is going to restore its God appointed times. Its God festivals and Jewish people will say “Hey that Christianity looks pretty Jewish” and Christians will say “Hey that Judaism looks pretty Christian.”
Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21 will come to pass I pray that they might be one. Read John 17:20 you find out who they is it’s the Jews and those that hear about the Messiah through their witness the Gentiles. So Jesus prayed I pray that they (Jew and Gentile) might be one because it will cause the world to believe. The same glory it says in John 17:23 The same glory that is on Me will be on them.
So they just finished hearing from Ezekiel the 1st chapter all about a wind and a flame of fire (laughing) and they come out in the streets after this great Pentecost, Shavuot.
It says in the 2nd chapter of Acts When the day of Pentecost had fully come they were all with one accord in one place and suddenly I love the word suddenly because some you have been waiting so long for God to move in your life and you’re being prepared like the wheat that is ground up to make the 2 loaves representing the Jew and the Gentile on Pentecost. When the day of Pentecost had fully come they were all with one accord in one place and suddenly there came a sound from heaven as if a mighty rushing wind. It filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues as a fire.
What do you think they are thinking about? Can you see how this is so tied in with Pentecost with a Biblical God Jewish put it all together and you’ve got the body of Jesus, Jew and Gentile, One New Man in Jesus.
Who appeared to them divided tongues as a fire and one sat upon each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit. They began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterances. They were dwelling in Jerusalem, Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. When this sound (laughing) the same sound they heard about in Ezekiel. I believe the same sound Ezekiel heard. When this sound occurred the multitude came together and they were confused because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
They even accused them of being, do you know why they accused them of being drunk? Because they had all the attributes of someone that was drunk they were so filled with the joy, the glory of the Lord. I mean it says in the 28th verse of that 2nd chapter of Acts it’s quoting the Psalms and it says You have made known to me the ways of life. You will make me full of joy in Your presence. That’s what Shavuot, Pentecost, is all about it’s being filled with God’s joy.
So then Peter said standing up with the 11 raised his voice and said to them: Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem let this be known to you and heed my words. These are not drunk as you suppose since it’s only the 3rd hour of the day (9:00 in the morning). But this is what was spoken by the Prophet Joel It shall come to pass in the last days says God that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. He’s saying the Jewish people there will be a mighty Shavuot, a mighty Pentecost, in which the sons and daughters of the Jewish people will move in the supernatural of God. On My menservants, and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. He says I’ll pour out My Spirit on ALL flesh.
We saw that in the 2nd chapter of Acts the first believers in Jesus, Jewish people at Shavuot were just filled with the Spirit of God and they began to see all of these things.
But we haven’t seen anything yet Mishpochah. We’re about ready to see the most glorious revival, that’s what Pentecost is all about. I mean 3000 people were saved that day. Here let me read just a little bit more. They said ‘Men and brethren what she all we do?’ Then Peter said to them ‘Repent and let everyone of you be baptized in the name of Jesus the Messiah for the remission of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the promises to you. And to you that are listening and all to you that are far off.’ It says many signs and wonders were done through the apostles when these Biblical festivals are celebrated you look at it on this Shabbat, the Sabbath, on the Biblical festivals. More miracles take place in the New Covenant than any other time because they’re God’s appointments with man.
