MIKE: Welcome to Something More!” I’m your host Mike Shreve and I’m here with James Goll, a noted author and minister of the Gospel and one who walks under a prophetic mantle! We’re so glad for the opportunity to hear what you have to say today! Welcome!
JAMES: Hey! Thank you!
MIKE: Welcome, James!
JAMES: Thank you!
MIKE: And very good to meet you!
JAMES: Yeah!
MIKE: I’ve heard about you for years! Read your articles in Charisma and various places and now I get to meet you face to face! What a blessing!
JAMES: And we’re both from the Volunteer State!
MIKE: Absolutely!
JAMES: Right?
MIKE: That’s going to make the program better!
JAMES: Come on! Absolutely!
MIKE: And you’re in Nashville.
JAMES: And we’re in agreement!
MIKE: Yes.
JAMES: Uh-huh!
MIKE: And I’m in Cleveland Tennessee.
JAMES: Yeah.
MIKE: Which of course is the stronger place spiritually. [Laughs]
JAMES: Oh!
MIKE: No, not really! [Laughs]
JAMES: Ohhh-kay! All right!
MIKE: There’s seven church headquarters there.
JAMES: Yeah I know! And Lee University.
MIKE: Yeah!
JAMES: It’s a great spiritual heritage!
MIKE: It’s a fantastic city to live in!
JAMES: Yes it is.
MIKE: And so is Nashville!
JAMES: It absolutely is.
MIKE: Yeah.
JAMES: And it is worship city to the world by the way!
MIKE: Okay.
JAMES: Did you know that?
MIKE: That’s what you’ve been claiming, confessing and prophesying, right?
JAMES: Uh, yes we are.
MIKE: I like that! I read that in your book this year.
JAMES: Oh, okay. Good! Good! Yeah.
MIKE: But we were conversing before the program and found out we have different stories.
JAMES: Uh-huh.
MIKE: But a kind of similar beginning.
JAMES: Yes.
MIKE: And I’d like you to kind of share what happened at your birth and concerning your mother.
JAMES: Okay.
MIKE: And the prayer that was prayed over you and then I’ll share my counterpoint on that.
JAMES: Cool! Oh great! So you know everybody’s beginnings you know are distinct and are different. And I grew up in a little bitty, bitty town called Cowgill. Yes, you heard that. Cowgill Missouri. A little town of 259 people.
MIKE: Never heard of it.
JAMES: No? And my mom and dad, you know the World War II bride type things. And they married and had two daughters and my mother was pregnant with child number three and it was a little boy and she had a miscarriage. Now back in that period of time things obviously were kept a lot more quiet and even there was a stigma to a degree that was attached to that. But she prayed that day. And now everybody’s going to find out how old I am.
MIKE: Uh-huh.
JAMES: Because that was July 3rd, 1951 and she had a miscarriage of a little boy. That day she prayed. My mother came from a Holiness prayer background. And she prayed that day and she said, “Lord if you’ll give me another son, I’ll dedicate him to Christ’s service!” Now her name is Amanda Elizabeth and Elizabeth means “consecrated one” and Amanda is a derivative of Ann or “grace.” So grace for consecration!
MIKE: Wow!
